In an interview with Jason Jennings, American Management Association asked him how he got the title for his new book (Hit the Ground Running). His response:
When we started the book we asked ourselves, who are the CEOs, the leaders, who created the greatest amount of economic value from the year 2000 to the present? Once we had identified these people and had generated more than 100,000 pages of interview transcripts with them, we started thinking about a title. I was having a telephone discussion with Adrian Zackheim, my publisher, and he said, “You know, what all of these people really have in common is that they hit the ground running. They didn’t spend a lot of time gazing at their navels or calling in lots of outside consultants. They just got it done.”
